From there, we explore downtown Winnipeg by bus, visiting or passing notable sites including:
Each stop offers a deeper understanding of the people and places that shaped this historic movement, from courageous protestors to the women who kept thousands fed.
This powerful and accessible tour blends storytelling, local landmarks, and reflection, helping participants connect with an essential chapter of Canadian history.
Stop 1: Ukrainian Labour Temple
Explore the sole surviving labour hall associated with the 1919 strike. The site of a police raid and strike literature confiscation, it was also a central rallying point for Ukrainian workers. It now serves as a meeting place for the community. It retains its original grand architecture and is wheelchair accessible.
Stop 2: Ivan Franko Museum
Step into the life and ideas of Ivan Franko - a radical Ukrainian literary and political figure whose philosophies deeply influenced Winnipeg’s immigrant workers. His writings on justice, resistance, and reform inspired generations. Wheelchair accessible.

Learn how this peaceful riverside space became the central gathering ground for strikers awaiting updates from labour leaders.
Drive-By: Hell’s Alley
Pass by the monument at Lily Street and Market Avenue commemorating Hell’s Alley, the site of bloody clashes with police involving batons, bricks, and bottles. The Centennial Concert Hall now occupies the alley site.
